Legalization

The documents to be used for reference in overseas must always be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is acceptable as a legitimate document. On the other hand, documents made in a foreign country or issued by foreign affairs must be translated into Thai language and certified by Thai Authorities by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well.

Type of Legalization

There are 3 types of legalization services by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand as follows:

  1. Certification of official documents
  2. Certification of true copy
  3. Certification of translation from the Thai language to English/English to the Thai language

Certification of official documents

Certification of official documents by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand are as follows:

  • Certification of personal signature
  • Certification of authority’s signature
  • Certification of personal signature as the owner of the document and/or as the person authorized to sign on behalf of the juristic person, the documents must be prepared by themselves and must be signed in front of the Nationality and Legalization Officer in person.

    1. Birth certificate
    2. Death certificate
    3. Marriage registration/marriage certificate
    4. Divorce Registration / Divorce Registration
    5. House registration
    6. ID card
    7. Change of name-surname certificate
    8. Certificate of marital status
    9. Certificate of criminal record
    10. Police clearance certificate
    11. Court’s judgement/court’s order
    12. Bank Certificate
    13. Certificate of origin
    14.  Invoice / Packing List / Bill of Lading
    15. Phytosanitary Certificate
    16. Health Certificate for Fishery and aquaculture products originating in Thailand
    17. Certificate of Manufacturer
    18. Memorandum of association
    19. Medical Certificate
    20. Certificate of Blood Type and DNA Testing
    21. Education Certificate
    22. Consent Letter for child

Certification of true copy

The Department of Consular Affairs will certify only documents issued by the Thai government The submission for certification must have original documents and photocopies.

Certification of translation

Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand can certify the translation in Thai and English language only.

For other foreign languages such as German, and French, the Embassy will be in charge of translating an English or Thai and certifying that translation.

However, the Department of Consular Affairs will certify the translation only from the original document issued or certified by Thai or foreign authorities.
